drawing from life

i have been drawing little things around the house to keep my hands nimble until the next round of ideas come. it is harder for me to draw things because i tend to judge my efforts much more harshly. but, still, i find a lot of value in doing this kind of work. the exercises take on a spiritual aspect as i increasingly learn to accept and explore within the simple and direct boundaries.

We are all too hard on ourselves! This is a great idea/exercise, Laura... may have to do the same.

Wonderful exercise. Your pencil line work is beautiful!

I do the same, I paint still life when inspiration is failing. It keeps my mind focussed on painting the shapes etc, and it gets my hands working. Love your drawing today! ~ Sara

Nice...
As a artist, you have no boundaries!
good to see you active.

thank you both! i am not feeling the boundlessness of art right now...it feels rather constricted...

a valuable thing to do laura , think of morandi and his bottles and jars which he repeatedly painted and drew ,yes also read john berger on drawing , he has so much to say on the act of drawing, your drawing is always more than the objects , it is the objects being drawn ,more than a sum of their parts (good luck xx)
